Getting down to the wire
Hello all two of you reading this blog :) Thanks for stopping by.
No major news to report, just that we're still plugging away. I watched Ghosts of Rwanda (a PBS documentary) with a few friends on Sunday. It was both inspiring and sickening... the way the filmmakers told the story was inspiring, but the breadth and depth of the evil in those 100 days makes my stomach churn.
I honestly don't know what to expect when I get to Rwanda. How will I feel? I react strongly to places with a powerful sense of history. My one visit to a Holocaust concentration camp may be an indication... I became very serious and didn't say much for a few days. We shall see.
Chris is working on putting together the final audio package and cleaning & prepping our gear from the Canadian side. Stateside, Jesse is trying to get his camera serviced before we go, but doesn't have access to repair shops like we enjoy in Vancouver.
We continue to talk through how we're going to approach the shoot. Some things will just have to be left to when we arrive and start rolling tape. In the meantime we're trying to be as prepared as we can be.
Fundraising is coming along slowly. It's always great to see who gets excited about these projects and puts their shoulder to it. It's pretty inspiring to me that people believe in us and what we're doing enough to put their money behind it.
I suppose that's all for now... I'll keep you posted as we go.

Well, I suppose I'm one of your 'two' visitors to the site? This is my second visit, officially. I am really excited about this trip, and would love to hear about it from you. Note that I work for an organization that engages youth all over Canada to get involved in international development. Note that this means if you see ways Canadian youth can get involved in development efforts down in Rwanda, let me know. We currently are not involved in Rwanda in any way, but we would love to start something up. Having your experience and video footage, and our student connection and university backing = possibly ways to collaborate for a common cause!
Ok, so I'm blabbing! Just note your trip will be a big part of my prayers. I pray now that you can be fully prepared for whatever God has in store for you, and also that the experience, will be overwhelming, but not in a bad way--in more of an empowering way. It's hard to be prepared for it all, but I am sure God is working on you somehow.
